Many of our readers will learn, with regret, of the death of James Chapman, second clerk in the Darlington manager's office of the North Eastern Railway, who resided at Heighington. Mr Chapman was for many years hon.sec. of the Heighington Flower Show, which owed a great deal of its success to his management. He was of a genial temperament and was much esteemed by a large circle of aquaintances. His death occured somewhat sudenly on
friday night, of quinsey."

320 Death Notice in Northern Echo of 7 December 2011 stating that: "BELL November 29 (peacefully in hospital), of Bishop Auckland. Maud, aged 96 years, devoted wife of the late John. Friends please meet for service and committal at Wear Valley Crematorium, Coundon on Monday December 12 at 11.45 a.m. Will be sadly missed.". Copy of death certificate dated 2 December 2011 received from her solicitor shows her home address as 12 Redworth Grove, Auckland Park, Bishop Auckland. She is described as a retired educational psychologist widow of John Price Bell a retired senior exccutive officer. The death was registered by her neighbour John Lethbridge.. Her date and place of birth are shown as 30 April 1915 at Etherley.
