5. Ann (Annie)3 Blacket(t) (Thomas2 Blackett, William1) was born in Windmill Hill, Westoe, South Shields, Co. Durham 25 September 1841. Copy certificate issued 27 April 2006. Thomas shown as a mariner. Jane's maiden name shown as Tully. Birth registered 30 September 1841. Ann died 21 April 1915 in 5 Church Chare, Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham, at 73 years of age. Copy certificate issued 10 November 2010. She is aged 65 which is approximately correct. Informant was R T Walker widower of deceased present at death.

She married Robert Thomas Walker in St Hilda's Parish Church, South Shields, Co. Durham, 31 December 1872. Copy certificate issued 6 September 2005. Robert is aged 25 a Coachman and Annie is aged 26 with no occupation shown. Robert's father Thomas is described as a Gardener and Annie's father Thomas as a Master Mariner. The Blackett surname is spelt with 2 t's but her Daughter' Violet's birth certificate has Blacket with 1 t.

Robert was born in Newbridge Cottages, Snettisham, Norfolk 21 August 1848. Birth Certificate registered 3 September 1848 by mother Catherine Walk er who made her mark. Record No. 268. Robert was the son of Thomas Walker and Catherine Burton.

Robert died 15 August 1934 in 5 Church Chare, Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham, at 85 years of age. Copy Certificate issued 3 February 1994. Original issued 15 August 1934. entry No. 15 of Chester-le-Street Sub-District. Described a a Retired gardener (Domestic). Age 78 at death but should be 85.

His body was interred 17 August 1934 in Chester-le-Street Cemetery. No gravestone Plot H634. Granddaughter Annie Bertha Walker also interred in same grave.

He was baptized in Snettisham, Norfolk, 24 September 1848. Religion: religion unknown. Entry 435 Page 55 of Register - fiche seen

He was listed as head of household in the 1851 census in Snettisham, Norfolk. HO107 Piece 1827 Folio 340 Page 26 shows Thomas aged 40, occupation gardener, Catherine aged 38, George aged 9 and Robert aged 2

He was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in Lynn Road, Snettisham, Norfolk. RG9 Piece 1249 Folio 115 Page 14. Thomas aged 58 instead of 51, occupation gardener (master), Catherine 48, George 19, occupation gardener, Robert 12, Betsy 9 and Walter 7.

He was listed as head of household in the 1871 census in Low Fell, Gateshead, Co. Durham. RG10 Piece 5062 Folio 29 Page 5. Robert an agricultural labourer aged 23. Whilst the writing is difficult to read it appears to say his birthplace was Snettisham, Norfolk.

He was listed as head of household in the 1881 census in Theatre Road, Wells Next Sea, Norfolk. RG11 Piece 1988 Folio 37 Pages 1516. Robert aged 31 (should be 33), a nurseryman, Annie 31, Annie B 7 born Killingworth, Northumberland, Violet 4 months born Seaham Co. Durham and George H 2 born Seghill Northumberland. Probably lived at The Nurseries - house by this name still exists.

He was listed as head of household in the 1891 census in Silkeys Lane, Chirton, Northumberland. Census RG12 Piece 4224 Folio 114 Page 47. Robert aged 42 a gardener, Annie 43 shown as being born at North Shields instead of South Shields, Violet 14, George H (shown as Henry G) 12 and Sydney (shown as Sidney V) 8. Sydney's birth place is Wells, Norfolk with the others shown as in the 1881 Census.

Robert aged 47 but 1891 Census said 4 2, occupation gardener not domestic born Snettisham. Annie aged 50 born S outh Shields, Violet 23 born Seaham, Harry 21 a coachman (not domestic) b orn Killingworth and Sydney 18 a Footman (domestic). born Wells

He was listed as head of household in the 1911 UK Census in 5 Church Chare, Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham. RG14 PN30091, RG78PN1738, RD554, SD1, ED7, SN27 shows Robert a domestic gardener aged 60 and Anne 61 married for 39 years, 4 children 1 of whom has died.

She was listed as head of household in the 1851 census in Adelaide Street, South Shields, Co. Durham. HO 107 Piece 2399 Folio 518 Page 44 shows mother Jane Blackett aged 43 a sailor's wife, daughter Mary 15, daughter Jane 12, daughter Annie 9, daughter Ellen 7, son William 4 and son Thomas 1, all born at South Shields, and lodger James Tully 52 master mariner, probably Jane's brother.

She was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in 55 Cambridge Street, South Shields, Co. Durham. RG09 Piece 3789 Folio 17 Page 28 shows Jane a seaman's wife aged 48, Jane 20 dress maker, Annie (now Anne with additional middle name Wright) 18, Eleanor 16 and Thomas 11.

She was listed as head of household in the 1871 census in Haughton Castle, Humshaugh, Northumberland. RG10 Piece 5153 Folio 15 Page 23 shows Ann aged 25 a housemaid for the Cranshay (should be Crawshay) family.

Entry No. 35 of Gateshead Sub-District. Father described as a Gentleman's Coachman. Her body was interred 11 October 1886 in Gateshead, Co. Durham. I cannot recall from where I obtained this information.
