Birthplace and year taken from 1881 Census when aged 2. 1881 and 1891 s ay Leghill or Seghill but 1901 says Killingworth. Note only 1 mile beyw een them. No birth entry ties up with George died 16 August 1912 in 96 Elvet Bridge, Durham City, Co. Durham, at 33 years of age. Copy certificate issued 13 December 1912 shows George Henry Thomas Wal ker 33 a cab driver died of"delirium, exhaustion following severe injur ies accidentally caused on the 13th day of August 1912 by being thrown f rom his driving seat and dragged through one of the horses he was drivi ng having shied and fallen and that he was then in the course of his em ployment as a cab driver. In the informant column it says "Certificate r eceived from John Graham Coroner for Chester Ward. Inquest held August 1 7th 1912" Not certain if 'Chester Ward' means the accident happened in C hester-le-Street which is 6 miles from Durham.

He married Jane Ellen Walmsley Nee Reay in St Giles Church, Durham, 16 August 1903. Copy certificate shows George with an additional forename Thomas. He is aged 24, ocupation groom, living 52 Gilesgate, Durham. Jane is aged 40 a widow, living at Chambers Yard, 27 Claypath, Durham.

Jane was born in Carrville, Co. Durham? March 1862. Free BMD has an entry Ref. Durham Volume 10A Page 305. Jane was the daughter of John Reay.

Jane died March 1942 in Sunderland, Co. Durham, at 80 years of age. She was listed as head of household in the 1881 census in 16 Littleburn Lane, Brandon & Byshottles, Co. Durham. RG11 Piece 4952, Folio 76, Page 6 shows Jane Ellen Reay 19, born Carville,domestic servant for Michael & Margaret Cooke. Because of software limitations, Jane is shown in error as head of household.

None show the first name. They have been married 8 years and have 1 child.

Probably lived at The Nurseries - house by this name still exis ts.

Robert aged 42 a gardener, A nnie 43 shown as being born at North Shields instead of South Shields, V iolet 14, George H (shown as Henry G) 12 and Sydney (shown as Sidney V) 8. Sydney's birth place is Wells, Norfolk with the others s hown as in the 1881 Census.
