4. William2 Wild(e) (William1 Wilde) was born in Monkwearmouth, Co. Durham about 1822. Birthplace and year taken from 1861 Census. William died September 1876 in Chester-le-Street district, Co Durham, at 54 years of age. Free BMD has an entry Ref. Volume 10A Page 267 for a William Wild (not Wilde) aged 55. William does not appear in the 1881 Census and the age is approximately correct. He probably died at his daughter Mary's home in the Sacriston area which comes under Chester-le-Street district. However, he is not stated as being deceased when Mary married on 23 December 1876, although this may be an omission.

He married Mary Graham in Sunderland, Co. Durham, December 1854. The Free BMD site has an entry for both parties. ref. Sunderland 10A 625.

Mary was born in South Shields, Co. Durham about 1830. Birthplace and year taken from 1861 Census.

Mary died December 1867 in Sunderland, Co. Durham, at 37 years of age. Free BMD has an entry for a Mary Wilde aged 44 Ref. Volume 10A Page 334. However, our Mary would have been about 37. Until a death certificate is obtained this entry cannot be confirmed. She does not appear with her husband on the 1871 Census.

She was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in 6 Millum Terrace, Monkwearmouth, Co. Durham. RG09 Piece 3784 Folio 34 Page 1 shows William aged 38 a boat builder, Mary 31 and daughter Mary 2. The address could possibly be Milburn Terrace not Millum Terrace. There is no record of Elizabeth aged about 5.

He was listed as head of household in the 1841 census in Monkwearmouth, Co. Durham. HO107 Piece 299, Folio 10, Page 15 shows Elizabeth 50 greengrocer, Mary Brewster 25, Sarah 20, William 20, Elizabeth 15, Esther 10 and Elizabeth 5 months. In this census ages were rounded to the nearest 5 years.

He was listed as head of household in the 1851 census in 1 Waterloo Place, Monkwearmouth, Sunderland, Co. Durham. HO 107, Piece 2398, Folio 214, Page 21 shows Elizabeth 61 widow milk woman born Darlington, Mary Brewster daughter widow 38 charwoman, William son 29 boat builder, Esther daughter 23 and Elizabeth granddaughter 3. The children and grandchild all born Monkwearmouth Shore.

He was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in 6 Millum Terrace, Monkwearmouth, Co. Durham. RG09 Piece 3784 Folio 34 Page 1 shows William aged 38 a boat builder, Mary 31 and daughter Mary 2. The address could possibly be Milburn Terrace not Millum Terrace. There is no record of Elizabeth aged about 5.

He was listed as head of household in the 1871 census in 10 Hallgarth Square, Monkwearmouth, Co. Durham. RG10 Piece 5023 Folio 81 Page 70/71 William is aged 49 born Sunderland, daughters Elizabeth 15, Mary 12 and son William 9 all born at Monkwearmouth. There is no record of his wife Mary who is presumed to have died between 1861 and 1871 and William is described as a widower.

William Wild(e) and Mary Graham had the following children:

child + 8 ii. Mary Ann Wilde was born 2 March 1859.

child + 9 iii. William Wilde was born 11 June 1861.
