7. Elizabeth3 Wilde (William2 Wild(e), William1 Wilde) was born in Monkwearmouth, Co. Durham 1855. Year and place of birth taken from 1871 Census. A search of Free BMD from 1850 to 1865 has not revealed an entry for Elizabeth.

She married Alfred Allen in Parish Church, Sunderland, Co. Durham, 17 January 1874. Copy certificate issued 21 April 2008 shows Alfred aged 21 a labourer and Elizabeth 18 no occupation. Alfred's father is James Allen deceased a labourer. Elizabeth's father is William Wilde a boat builder. Alfred's address is 9 Hardwicke Street and Elizabeth's is 14 Mulgrose? Street.

Alfred was born in Toppesfield, Essex December 1852. Place of birth taken from 1881 Census when he was 28. Free BMD has an entry which may be the correct person. Ref. Halstead Volume 4A Page 270. Halstead district includes Toppesfield. It is interesting to note that Samuel French came from Wethersfield about 4 miles from Toppesfield. Did they know each other? They both married in County Durham about the same time. Alfred was the son of James Allen and Maria Hitchin?.

He was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in Finchingfield, Essex. RG9 Piece 1113, Folio 41, Page 17 shows James 35 agricultural labourer, Maria 27, Elenor 10, Alfred 8, George 6, John 3 and Jane 1. James and the 3 eldest children born Toppesfield. Maria and the 2 younger children born Finchingfield.

He was listed as head of household in the 1871 census in Finchingfield, Essex. RG10 Piece 1700, Folio 23, Page 3 shows Maria a widow 38 straw plaiter, Elenor 20 pauper, Alfred 18 agricultural labourer, John 13 agricultural labourer, Jane 11 scholar, Frederick 9 scholar, Alice 6 scholar and James 2. I have not recorded the children other than Alfred.

He was listed as head of household in the 1881 census in 13 West Row, Waldridge, Co. Durham. RG11 Piece 4980, Folio 21, Page 37. Alfred 28 a Colliery Banksman born Topperfield (should be Toppesfield), his wife Elizabeth 26 born Sunderland, daughters Mary M 7 born Sunderland, Elizabeth J 5 born Sacriston, son James W W 3 born Sacriston and boarder William Wilde 19 coal miner born Sunderland - he is brother of Elizabeth.

There is no record of his wife Mary who is presumed to have died between 1861 and 1871 and William is described as a widower.
